Orthodontist braces removed video at Curtis Orthodontics, Chandler, AZ
Director’s notes about filming a debonding braces video for Curtis Orthodontics:
By the time I’d filmed this braces video, I’d worked with Dr. Alan Curtis on a handful of projects. I really do like working with him and his team. They are a unique combination of efficiency and fun (often times a dental practice is one or the other). I am also impressed with the dental technology Curtis Orthodontics has—it makes me wish the orthodontist who put braces on me had (although that was back in the ’80s, so it’s not a fair comparison)! Still digital impressions, flat-screen tvs on the ceiling, and a slushy machine would have been nice to have.
Dr. Curtis is also a bit of a camera geek (like me), so we were talking about new camera gear during the actual shoot. He’d ask questions about camera angles, lighting, etc. While you watch the video, note a top down slider shot of the patient having whitening gel put on his teeth (the gel is actually red). That camera angle was Dr. Curtis’ idea! We didn’t have the proper gear to make that shot absolutely perfect, so I knew it’d take a few minutes to get set up. We’re trying to decide whether it’s worth it to take the time to get the shot. I stopped for a second, looked at Dr. Curtis and asked, “Let me ask you, do you want to get this shot?” Like a little kid who’s asked if he wants ice cream, Dr. Curtis emphatically nodded his head “yes!” “Okay,” I replied, “if you want to get the shot—we’re doing it!” We’re both glad we got that shot.

PS—the sound of the dog chewing on the retainer in the video is actually me chewing on several pieces of gum (I pitched the sound down a little too).
